Culvert collapse closes Birmingham & Fazeley Canal

ISSUES with the culvert at Aston Lock (11) on the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal.Culvert caused an inspection yesterday.

When it was discovered that the culvert had partially collapsed, Keith Gudgin reports.

Temporary repair if possible

However the trust is arranging for contractors to install a porta dam by Tuesday of next week to allow further investigation to see if a temporary repair is possible.

If this is practical it is hoped to undertake the work and have the navigation reopened by next Thursday.

This should allow the navigation to remain open until a permanent repair can be undertaken during the winter works.
